In 2012, a memo titled “Project 1794 Final Development Summary Report 2 April—30 May 1956” was finally
declassified by the United States Air Force describing an aircraft with the capability of flying [QUOTE] “between Mach 3 and Mach 4, a ceiling of over 100,000 ft. and a maximum range with allowances of about 1,000 nautical
miles.” Schematics with the report revealed an intimidating and revolutionary form. Jointly developed with the Avro Canada aircraft manufacturing company, Project 1794 was to be America’s secret flying saucer. Its mission would be to hunt down and intercept Soviet long-range bombers. Its otherwordly shape would have the added effect of bringing psychological war to the enemy…
